Last Saturday the St Ives Mens Pennant teams broke the Pennant playoff drought not once but twice!
The Mens 4s team in their final game of the season beat the ladder leaders Willoughby Park to take top spot. The game was close but with wins to Joe Shofer & John Cumming's team and a draw to Geoff Rose's, they did the trick to win their section. So now it is off to Harbord BC next Saturday to try for the Pennant flag against Harbord (2). Games commence at 12 noon. Not to be outdone the Mens 7s team also produced the goods to win their section. As ladder leaders it was a must-win situation to make sure they won the section and they did just that, winning comfortably. Wes Taylor and Bob Balmer's teams both had wins while Chis Stirling went down by 5 shots in what was a close match. The 7s will play at Harbord BC on Sunday to try for the flag. Our opposition is Warrawee. Games commence at 12 noon. So congratulations not only to those who are playing in the finals but also to those players who contributed during the season. What better way to spend a sunny afternoon than join us at Harbord BC to encourage the boys to go for GOLD! Good luck & good bowling Peter Larcombe- Chairman of Selectors 17 July 2018
