The 2018 Midweek Challenge gets underway on Wednesday October 10th. The new group of selectors have named the sides for Round 1 as follows.
If there are any issues with availability please advise the selectors asap.
The two semi-finals in the Mixed Pairs Championship were played yesterday. Two close games saw Jenni Bradley & Michael Heath win 23-20 over Sue Byrne & Chris Wood while Shizuko Hashimoto & Chris Carey defeated Chris Bergman & Judy Bain 21-15.
The final will be played next Sunday September 30th.
Yesterday saw the two semi-finals of the 2018 Mens Triples Championship.
Tony Wright, Chris Carey & Rod Silber had a convincing 34-15 victory over Steven Goddard, Bob Talbot & Fred Alexander. The other match was a very close affair with the team of Jim Barclay, Peter Larcombe & Peter Shlager triumphing 26-24 over Noel McKenzie, Michael Macourt & Joe Shofer.
The Final will be played on Saturday, October 6th.

St Ives sent a strong team to compete in the 2018 Ku-ring-gai Shield held at Warrawee BC on September 15th.
In the Singles match-up Rod Silber had an narrow 31-30 win over Killara's Wilson Tan. In the Pairs, Steven Goddard & Peter Shlager fell short against Warrawee's Steve Ogden & Tony Fabro 25 shots to 15. St Ives' Triples side of Tony Wright, Peter Larcombe & Chris Carey squeaked home 21-20. The Fours (Noel McKenzie, Chris Bergman, Bruce Mason & Fred Alexander) beat their opponents from Turramurra 17-11.
At the end of the afternoon that left St Ives with 3 wins & 1 loss, the same result as Warrawee. Unfortunately St Ives missed out on the trophy on aggregate margin.
Some exciting matches in Sunday's sunshine in Round 2 of the Mixed Pairs Championship. Most notable was the match between Sue Byrne & Chris Wood playing against Jan Woodcock & Graham Hancock. Their match was tied after 21 ends- Sue & Chris prevailed on the extra end 21-20.
The semi-finals are coming up next Sunday (September 23rd).
After Tuesday's semi-finals, today saw the final of the Womens Handicap Pairs Championship played in very pleasant conditions.
The 2018 champions are Barbara de Barkaz and Jan Woodcock who triumphed against their opponents Joy Sapier and Jackie Wilmshurst.
Congratulations to the winners & commiserations to the runners-up.
The Mixed Pairs event gets underway on Sunday with one Round 1 game and one Round 2 matchup. Pam & Sid Caganoff will play Nigel Blackburn & Joy Sapier in Round 1 while Judy Bain & Chris Bergman will play Gidley McCullough & Joan McClelland.
