Tapner 2022 got off to a great start on Sunday 20th February. Forty team of pairs from across Sydney and beyond played for big prizes sponsored by Findex. The weather was kind, even though the greens had been slowed down by all the recent rain. Winners and third prize came again from Harbord with team Warder and team Lecky taking out 1st and 3rd with Kenta Treacher taking out second for North Sydney with Jamen Lewis. On Monday the weather was again kind and all games were completed. Results for Pairs and Triples below. On to the Jacobs Creek Club challenge on Thursday if the rain goes away!

On Saturday 5th February the presentations for the men's 2021 championships and the Dick Carey bowler of the year were held. The presentations were delayed from December due the impact of COVID and the need to complete all competitions. The joint winners of the Bowler of the year for 2021 were Vicki Bartrop, Di McBryde and Steven Goddard. Congratulations to all 3! Wilson Cheng joined an exclusive club by winning the George Welch trophy as Major Singles champion for a second time. Runner up was Peter Shlager Rod Silber & Chris Carey took out the pairs. Gallant runners up were Peter Shlager & Jim Barclay Steven Goddard, Greg Smith & Wilson Cheng took out the triples. Runners up were Alan Gersohn Michael Weiner & Wes Taylor. Our fours winners were Cec Thompson, Chris Bergman, Steven Goddard and Greg Smith. Runners up were Tony Wright, Ray Ryan, Graham Hancock and John Cummings. The Handicap Singles winner was Michael Weiner who beat Ian Finlay in the final Minor Singles champion was Ross Yates who beat Trevor Whitehead in the final Handicap Pairs and Consistency Singles were not played due to Covid On Saturday the 29th February 2022 two of our better bowlers Peter Shlager and Wilson Cheng played the final of the Men’s Major Singles Championship. Peter started like a house on fire as he built up a 10 shot lead and then the house burnt down as Wilson proceeded to score 25 points while Peter only scored 4 over the next 20 ends. Peter rallied at the end to make it exciting for the spectators but the finish post was too close and Wilson ran out winner 31-23
