It was Round 4 out of 6 in the Zone 9 Midweek Challenge. After Wednesday's games the situation in the various grades is becoming clearer and the contenders to win their sections are emerging.
The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the C Grade side who went to Warrawee and won convincingly 69-57 (6 pts to 0). St Ives is sitting level with Turramurra on top of the ladder with 13 pts. However it is desperately close with all four teams very much in contention. The B Grade side had the closest of close shaves at home, edging North Sydney 74-73 (4 pts to 2). It was a crucial win for St Ives keeping them in the hunt with two rounds to go. St Ives are just one win behind the section leaders Turramurra. It was a disappointing loss at home for the D Grade team, going down 55-42 (5 pts to 1) to Warrawee. St Ives sit second on the ladder but with an 8 point deficit to Warrawee, it's going to be very hard to close the gap. Finally the A Grade side, who went down at home to Belrose (1) 73-43 (5 pts to 1). That result leaves St Ives bottom of the ladder and officially out of the running. Maybe next year!
