If the results of round 1 of this year's pennant season is any indication then the Men's Club is in for a fabulous season ahead. As they say, four wins from four outings isn't a bad start to the season!!
Here's a summary of the results. The 2s, playing away at Pittwater Memorial, led the way, started like men possessed and finished the way they started. Yep a wonderful performance by all players and teams in their 10-0 whitewash of Pittwater - 83 to 35 shots on the main board. Down the road our 4s were up against the strong Dee Why club and, while playing away and winning only the single rink, they managed a good win on the main board 55 shots to 49 and a great 8 points to 2 upset. The only team to be playing at home, our 6s, had a far more competitive match against Balgowlah and it went right down to the wire. At the end of 63 ends our 6s had mananged a single shot 9-1 point win, 59-58 on the main board. And to close off the record breaking day our 7s had the dubious task of playing away at Harbord and, as we all know, not many teams exit the Harbord car park at dusk with a smile on their faces. However our 7s did just that and, after 2 good rink wins and a draw on the third, had a wonderful main board 63-47 shot, 9.5 to 0.5 point win. Well done guys but don't let's get too carried away. Remember this is only round one in a long pennant season and games on Saturday were played on surfaces that suit our game - medium to slow!! Our biggest challenge will come when the greens quicken up. The link to obtain all grade results may be found here.
