Our happy bunch of Fours Pennant Flag Winners- well done ladies! Photograph: David Hagley 15 March 2018
The Women's District President, Julie Hayden, was on hand, with V-P Bev Piper, to formally present the Club's 2018 Championship-winning No. 4 Pennant team with their badges and the Pennant Flag. While commenting positively about their exciting win in our District's pennant competition, Julie confirmed that they unreservedly deserved their win as they had proved to be by far the best team in the competition. She wished them well in their playoff against the Manly Warringah District Champions, who they will play in May, and hopefully then in the State games later in the year. Exact details of these games will be published at a later date.
Julie Hayden briefed the many bowlers and guests present on "the happenings" in the District and highlighted our recently refurbished and modernised clubhouse. Di McBryde, our Women's Club President, also congratulated our 4s pennant team ladies and reinforced how proud the whole club is about their flag winning achievement.
For the record, the teams were (in order from left in the photos) Lena Pittman (skip), Judy Douglas (3rd), Pat Black (2nd) & Sue Byrne (L) and Jan Kelett (L), Jenny Bradley (2nd), Di Aston (3rd) & Judy Lonsdale (skip). (It should also be noted that Shirley Wood was a reserve and kindly substituted in the final match.) Judging on today's function and presentation ..... winners are definitely grinners!! Well done ladies. Now let's see what the men can do!!
