Chris Carey Reaches Zone Singles Semi-Finals

This weekend saw play across a number of bowling clubs (including St Ives) in the Zone 9 singles competitions. The highlight was undoubtedly Chris Carey's achievement of winning through three rounds at Belrose to reach next weekend's Semi-Finals at Harbord BC. Chris will play Alan McMaster from North Sydney next Saturday morning. The winner will then face either Mona Vale's Stuart Macleod or Scott Sheppard from Pittwater Memorial in the Final.

The full results for St Ives members this weekend are as follows:-

State Singles

• Chris Carey beat B. Foreman (Harbord) 31-12, A. Moody (Mona Vale) 31-26 and S. Owen (North Sydney) 31-23.
• Wilson Cheng beat A. Foy (Asquith) 31-15 and lost to C. Green (Harbord) 31-15.
• Mike Heath lost to T. Warder (Harbord) 31-20.
• Jim Barclay lost to J. Brown (Belrose) 31-12.

Senior Singles

• Chris Bergman lost to W. Fletcher (Mona Vale) 31-20.
• Rod Silber beat P. Wade (Lane Cove) 31-18 and lost to T. Taylor (Belrose) 31-30.

Reserve Singles

• Kevin Bettman lost to T. Bourke (Manly) 31-30.
• Graeme Manning lost to T. Fabro (Warrawee) 31-25.
• John Swann beat I. Carter (Dee Why) 31-23 and lost to D. Willesee (Avalon Beach) 31-29.
