The two semi-finals in the Consistency Singles were played this afternoon.
Tim Walton triumphed over Kevin Bettman in their semi-final clash 151-129. In the other match it was Chris Bergman coming home over Trevor Whitehead 154-115. So Tim Walton will play Chris Bergman in the final which is scheduled for Wednesday July 18. Good luck to both finalists! Gerard Coggans 11 July 2018 Please advise the selectors asap if there are any issues with availability. On a cold & windy day there were some exciting results in the latest round of Pennants matches. The 4s had a very strong win at home against Harbord (1) winning 77-45 (9 pts to 1). That leaves St Ives 5 points behind the section leader Willoughby Park with one round to go. The drama is all set as that Round 10 fixture sees St Ives travel to Willoughby Park for a winner-takes-all finale. St Ives will be looking to overturn a Round 5 loss at home to the same opponent. Good luck! The 6s had an excellent win away at Mosman 64-59 (9 pts to 1). That result keep St Ives in contention on the ladder- 1/2 point behind Chatswood and 7 1/2 behind Mosman. In Round 10 St Ives are away to North Manly whilst the top two meet at Chatswood. St Ives has to win and hope that Chatswood can topple Mosman. In their final game of the season the 2s finished on a high, winning away to Dee Why 59-54 (8 pts to 2). Sad to report the 7s came back down to earth with a bump losing away to Mona Vale 46-75 (0 pts to 10). However the 7s still have destiny in their own hands- a win next week away to Seaforth will see them top the section. Mona Vale will need to sweep the board at Killara if they are to have any hope. In Round 5 St Ives had a strong 69-60 win against Seaforth so a final round win is very much a possibility. Let's keep our fingers crossed for our teams next weekend. Gerard Coggans 8 July 2018 The second round of the Mens Consistency Singles has been concluded. The Semi-Finals are due to be played this coming Wednesday. Please advise the selectors asap if you have any issues with availability. The draw for Round 8 saw all four of St Ives' teams drawn at home and that advantage produced some good results.
The 2s had a morale boosting win over Belrose 64-52 (9 pts to 1), an excellent result given Belrose is contending for honours this year. The 2s just have the one game remaining in their programme. The 4s also had an excellent win over Forestville RSL 68-53 (9 pts to 1). That result leaves them in second place 13 pts behind Willoughby Park with 2 rounds left. St Ives will meet Willoughby Park away in Round 10. The all-conquering 7s had another sparkling effort defeating Lindfield Rollers convincingly 73-35 (10 pts to 0). St Ives have a 14 pt edge over Seaforth and 16 over Mona Vale. However the 7s final two fixtures are away to both of their chasers. To snap what was otherwise a fine set of results the 6s fell to a very narrow loss to Lane Cove 50-58 (1 pt to 9). They are still in contention in 3rd place 15.5 pts behind Mosman. There is a "must win" confrontation in Round 9 as the 6s travel to Mosman. Gerard Coggans 1 July 2018 |
